Our Davebilt #43 Nutcracker has cracked thousands of pounds of walnuts, hazelnuts, domestic pecans, almonds, acorns and more...

Got tired of using a hammer...

Necessity, the Mother of Invention...

Davebilt Co. was established in 1964 because our Founder CLARENCE DAVIDSON,  had an English Walnut orchard and, being a machinist AND INVETERATE TINKERER, started creating easier ways to harvest and process the crop.

Since 1978, Davebilt Co. has manufactured the #43 nutcracker. With a simple adjustment you can quickly crack different sizes, shapes and variety of nuts, including Hazelnuts, Domestic Pecans, Almonds and Acorns. The large hopper enables a cracking capacity of 50 pounds of English Walnuts per hour

The heavy gauge steel and bronze bearing construction assures long life with continued use. Kids think it's fun to use!   But here's a secret... if the handle is only rocked and not rotated, you'll get larger nutmeat pieces and more halves.

The #43 Nutcracker comes mounted on its own base. We highly recommend that you use C-clamps, like shown in this image or mount it directly to your work surface. This allows all of the effort to go into the cracking of the nuts, not holding the machine down. C-clamps can be purchased at your local hardware store and sized according to your needs.

This is a popular item, hand built by in Lakeport, California. Our business is family owned, and we pay attention to quality and detail.  This takes time, so get on the waiting list today!

English Walnuts

"Last year cranked out 80 lbs of walnuts on one of your nut cracker my friend bought 30 yrs ago at the Colusa Ag show. It did a beautiful job.

Filberts

aka Hazelnuts

"I have been using a Davebilt cracker for filberts for the last decade or so and have found it to be a solid, effective tool."

Acorns

"My wife & I cracked 22 gallons of dried acorns in less than two hours, & it was so fun we fought over who got to crank it! More whole kernels & unbroken halves because it doesn't obliterate the nuts."

Beginning with large scale harvesting pickers & leaf blowers,  now specializing in hand-operated items, created with the home or small orchard in mind.

Daughter: Rose

Rose oversees all of the office related functions as well as helping out in the shop making and welding up parts as needed. She’s been in and out of the shop since 1964. Her first job was sweeping the floors. She has been the main welder for many years.

Son-in-Law: John

After joining the family in the early 2000s, John worked part-time making parts until his retirement from teaching wood shop at the local high school. Now he makes most of the components and oversees inventory control and jokes.

Shop Steward aka That Darned Cat

He oversees and controls the rodent population. He gives his human, Clarence purpose in keeping the kibble level at an acceptable level. Known to overwinter in the shop and not be overly bothered by certain shop noise levels or idle threats.  But why would anyone threaten such a cute sleepy cat?
